The Last Remaining Winery In Los Angeles!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: eBay Info

It Is The

 Last Remaining Winery

In Los Angeles!

This past weekend we visited my Great-Uncle Howard in the LA area.

For an excursion, we went to the last remaining winery in LA, the San Antonio Winery which was started in 1917!

The only reason it remains is that on the eve of Prohibition, the owner of the winery went to the Bishop of the LA Diocese and struck a deal to make the sacramental wine for the dioces!

Hearing that story, my great-uncle, born in 1915, told us the story of how after shucking corn at at a carnival in Maitlin, Missouri, that his uncle Lewis McIntosh, who like to drink a little, asked the local Marshall where the best place to find a drink was in the area! Considering it was still Prohibition (1933), the Marshall definitely knew where the drinking activities were!

My Great-Great Uncle Lewis wasn't an alcoholic, but is known for his saying that 'the best time to drink is the morning'!

We're tying this blog post in with our 'Crime Comics' as the gangsters made a lot of money during the Prohibition Era!

Also, for those regular readers of our blog posts, you can see that we also enjoy wine tasting at wineries as well as viewing films, comics, and attending conventions!

By the way, we have an ongoing comic and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the top right pic to view just some of our listings!

Above is Howard McIntosh and Michael checking out the labelling machine at the San Antonio Winery. And yes, we did some quality inspection of the wines too!

If you are visiting LA, this winery is in Lincoln Heights , which is north of Chinatown. Take in the winery tour, tasting room, and the Maddalena Restaurant. Definitely worth the trip and time!
