New Amsterdam TV Show

On The Fox Network!

Ever since the WGA Strike affected our viewing habits, I have been hesitant to blog about midseason TV Shows.

Indeed when this show first came out, I couldn't make up my mind to like or dislike the show...

However after several episodes have aired I am now ready to recommend viewing this show... just in time for Monday Night's Season Finale for this show!

What a TV Season this has been! LOL! Hopefully you can catch it on a DVD set...

My hesitancy was because the show's similar to a few I've liked in the past, but it does pander to the current fixation on TV of showing dead bodies over and over... which Tina and I personally don't like to watch. We watch TV for escapism not for dead bodies...

However the background to show is a good one, and the producers have fleshed this show out over the abbreviated season.

What's It about???

The main character is John Amsterdam, (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who saves the life of a Native American girl when Manhattan Island was 'New Amsterdam' and owned by Dutch.

The girl in turn gives him immortality through a spell in order to save his life...

Okay... well here is the twist to this show... John Amsterdam will not age until he finds his one true love! Oh yeah... at which point he will become mortal again and can die!

So the show is about a 400 year old man who has lived multiple occupations and had many families during that time. Sounds convuluted but it is fun watching the story unfold in today's world with flashbacks from his past!

Other than the dead bodies, because he's currently a New York Homicide Detective, the show is pretty darn good!

We have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
