10th Anniversary of This Movie !

Kull the Conqueror .... the Movie

Kull the Conqueror was a 1997 film based on the Robert E. Howard character 'Kull'. The film starred Kevin Sorbo, best known for his Hercules TV role, where Xena also started!

The film was a movie adaptation of the Conan novel 'Conan the Conqueror', with the title role name changed in the face of Arnold Schwarzenegger's refusal to reprise his role as Conan, and then Kevin Sorbo not wanting to reprise a character already played by another actor.

The film began with what turned out to be a test of skill and ability. Kull failed this admission test on the grounds that he was not of noble blood. Kull then rode to the city that the King and his guards were from and he found the King had gone mad, killing his heirs. The leader of the guard complained, but the mad King struck him also, before being killed by Kull.

Kull was then given the crown by the dying King, knowing that many would now seek to kill Kull for it, notably the leader of the King's guard, and his cousin, both of whom were of royal blood.

The two conspired to bring an evil witch queen back to life. That witch queen, named Akivasha, revived.... then entranced Kull, married him and then promptly poisoned Kull.  All believed that Kull was dead, but Kull reawakened to find out the truth of Akivasha. He freed himself from confinement and struggledto regain his throne and vanquish the evil witch.

This movie was somewhat convulted, and did not equal the quality of the comic books from the 1970's that Marvel Comics produced.  I was disappointed in this movie, which just did not translate well to the big screen. Contrary to the movie poster to the top left, Kull did Not 'Rock' for me!

For those interested in more comics on the Era of Conan, including Kull the Conqueror comic book, we have several hundred in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store, just click on the Conan Cover to the left!

Season 2 of 'Who Wants To Be A Super-Hero?' Is Coming In July!

That's Right!!!!!

The Sci-Fi Channel is promoting it already... so stay tooned for more craziness in July 2007 !!

In an earlier post we published the link to the tryouts! for those of you brave (or silly) enough to check it out! Also we blogged about the upcoming comic book that 'Feedback' Winner of the First Season is having published in July. See the blog posts below for more on that!

I have enjoyed Stan Lee's super-hero endeavors ever since  reading my first Fantastic Four superhero comic book, issue #3 back in 1962.... and have had the pleasure of meeting Stan several times at the SDCC during the years gone by, (pic top left).

My wife Tina had a seat next to Stan during the Heritage Live Auction at the SDCC where they auctioned off several items of his collection including his pinball machine he kept at his LA office ! She suggested he sign it, and he did after it was bought on auction!

Season Two of the Show is scheduled to air sometime in July, 2007, so check out this link for upcoming details !!

For those interested in Marvel Superhero comic books, we have a slugfest full  in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store. If you are interested in Fantastic Four comics, just click on the comic book cover to the left l

Just Added Our Comment To this International Discussion Board Thread:

The Name of the eBay Group where we posted the comment is:

THE INTERNATIONAL COMIC BOOK BUYERS CLUB

The Comment Post is as follows:
Due to the May 14th USPS services changing and costs going up, PLUS eBay changing the shipping fields, we have had to revise our 2,000 active and expired listings one more time!

So as not to be caught in this continually changing environment, we have elected to NOT use a shipping service on our eBay Featured Store listings any more.

When a seller elects NOT to list a shipping service, the potential bidder / buyer is directed to email the seller for cost. Unfortunately that is the way we have elected to go, as there is another USPS cost change projected for early 2008!   (We are posting our International Shipping Rates At the Top of our eBay Featured Store header, which is NOT subject to individual edits.)

We once had 6,500 listings in our eBay store UNTIL last summer 2006 when eBay raised the listing fees on store listings from 2 cents to 5 or 10 cents depending on value of listing.

Additionally we opened up our own web site to store the slower movers, especially after eBay stopped showing our listings on eBay UK CN & AU, where almost all of our international sales came from.

So as of May 2007, we are showing our listings for sale only to the UK, CANADA & AUSTRALIA. Our combined international shipping rates will be shown at the top of our store header and anywhere else that we don't have to individually edit each time that the USPS changes their rates, or where eBay won't allow us to BULK edit!

Thanks for reading this, and we would welcome your comments below!

Michael (and Tina)

The above comment was in response to a discussion thread posted on that 'International Comic Book Buyers Club' as follows:

New USPS Shipping Rates & Service Changes

Effective May 14, 2007:

USPS Rates and Fees

USPS International Service Changes

Global Express Mail will be replaced by Express Mail International

Airmail Parcel Post, Economy Parcel Post, and Global Priority Mail will be replaced by Priority Mail International.

Airmail Letter Post and Economy Letter Post will be replaced by First Class Mail International.

We want to thank YOU for checking out this blog post today, and welcome your comments below if any !

American Idol Update: Blake vs Regis Philbin !

American Idol Update:  Blake Vs. Regis !

Live With Regis & Kelly TV Show

Just finished watching the clip on AOL.com featuring Blake Lewis' performance on 'Live With Regis & Kelly TV Show'.

Blake sounded fantastic!

When Regis Philbin started his beatboxing it was actually funny! But then again I've liked Regis years before he made it to the big time.

I remember when Regis was out here in San Diego many years ago.

I skipped school one day to go to his daytime afternoon show with a school friend and his mother.  Regis had Imogene Coca on that day.  It was after she had starred with Joe E Ross in the 1966-67 TV Show 'It's About Time', which I enjoyed!  Imogene played a cavewoman on that show of all things and was pretty funny! She was great to see in person!

Anyway, for those of you that haven't seen the Blake / Regis clip, and you liked Blake on American Idol.... then check it out!!!

For those interested in TV shows like 'American Idol', we have several Movie and TV based comic books or graphic novels in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store .  Just click on the link provided!
