For Those That Asked About Isis !
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: TV Shows

Funimation Will Be Issuing a DVD Set of the TV Show of Mighty Isis!

Funimation will also have a booth at the SDCC (San Diego Comic Con International) from June 26th - 29th if you are not able to find any on eBay!

The Secrets of Isis  was a live action television series produced by Filmation Studios in the mid-1970s that appeared on the Saturday morning cartoon lineup.

It was first known as the Shazam/Isis Hour and ran for 15 episodes. Later Isis would have her own show which ran for 7 episodes, so a total of 22 original eps were made.

The show has also aired in various countries around the world and is also known by the shorter title of 'Isis'.

The Secrets of Isis starred Joanna Cameron as Andrea Thomas, (pictured top right), who was a high school science teacher that found an ancient mystical amulet on an archeological dig in Egypt!  The amulet once belonged to Hatshepsut, who was an ancient Egyptian Queen and the amulet gave the wearer the powers of Isis!

So, in true heroic form, whenever Isis was needed, Andrea would reveal the amulet and incite an incantation ("Oh, mighty Isis!") and she would be transformed into the goddess Isis.... Well, I didn't make this up folks!!

Anyway, for those interested in ISIS and other DC TV Superhero comic books, we have many listed in our eBay Featured Store .

Thanks for reading this pop culture / comic books blog post, and feel free to comment!

Batmania !

Holy Batmania !

This Is An Excellent DVD About The 1960's TV Show...behind the scenes, and about the actors!

I have now watched the first disc twice and enjoyed it each time!

I don't care that most fanboys nowadays think the 1966 - 68 TV show was campy and ruined Batman.  I lived through this period, and the TV Show rescued the Batman comic from cancellation!

This DVD's first disc has five in-depth documentaries exploring the history and legacy of the TV series and they are all watchable!

"Adam West: Behind the Cowl" is a revealing biography of the man who brought the comic hero to life on television and it was a classic on someone who was typecast but lived on to come back to the limelight once more.

"Julie Newmar: The Cat's Meow" revealed the background of the actress and gave me more insight on why she landed the opportunity to become the Catwoman. I have seen Julie in person at the SDCC with Yvonne Craig, and can see that she is a class act!

The section on Cesar Romero was very insightful, and gave me more info on what he did before the Batman TV Show. He was 58 years old when he first played the Joker!  He had been the 'Cicso Kid' at one time in the movies. Was always the handsome leading man in his movies after he became a star.

The other two sections were on the show and had scenes from the show's episodes for illustration.

This DVD is very insightful and should at least be rented for viewing by any Batman TV Show fan, if not outright purchased for their DVD Film Library!!

For those interested in BATMAN comic books we have several  in our eBay Featured Store  !

Daredevil Outed !

Daredevil Outed !

Now THIS deserved to be published as a graphic novel!!

This is a compilation of Daredevil Volume 2, comic book issues #26 - 37.

This is the story of how Daredevil was 'outed' to be the blind law attorney
Matt Murdock in real life.

The story by Brian Michael Bendis is very good, in that it told the story without bringing in any other characters that were not part of Daredevil's normal universe. And it was believable!

The art by Alex Maleev fit the story and it was hard putting the book down to do something else!

A rare book in that it told the story and kept me, the reader, in suspense.

I can't see how anyone was able to read it as a monthly comic book, this story fit into a graphic novel format from the get go!

Highly recommended graphic novel, and for those that read my graphic novel reviews, that is saying something
!

For those interested in the Daredevil comic books, we have several listed in our eBay Featured Store !

Please feel free to post your comment in this, our Pop Culture / Comic Book Blog!
