Ghost Rider DVD Is Coming This Week !
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Comic Book Movies

June 12th Is Ghost Rider DVD Release Day!

The DVD comes as an 'Extended Cut' DVD, where scenes deleted from the movie are added!  It is NOT a 'Director's Cut'. The director, Mark Steven Johnson, believes the released theatrical version is a better paced movie, but this one has additional background material added.

We reviewed this movie in an earlier blog post after it was released and are pleased to let you know that the DVD will be here THIS WEEK!

By the way, we currently have 218 DVDs reviewed, plus 15 VHS, 7 CDs, and 62 books in our eBay Reviews Section!

Almost all of them are pop culture flicks or books, except for the occasional 'chick flick' that Tina slips in our DVD stack!!

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and be sure to mark the date that you can buy your own copy of the Ghost Rider Movie!  Click on the picture to the right for Ghost Rider Comics we have available for sale!

Parade Magazine 6-01-07 Feature Article - Angelina Jolie
Mood:  bright
Topic: Comic Book Movies

Angelina Jolie...

Featured On Front Cover  of Parade Magazine!

Angelina is on the front cover of Parade Magazine today, with the article title of:

Actress, activist and mother Angelina Jolie:

'How I Found My Way'

It is a good article on Angelina, with some background history, her recent marriage to Brad Pitt, the children they have, and her activism in world affairs.

Angelina was born in 1975, and was cast in a few movies before her Tomb Raider breakout film in 2001 !

She portrayed Lara Croft, who is a member of a rich British aristocratic family. She enjoys collecting ancient artifacts from ruins of temples, tombs, cities, and other places worldwide, and goes through death-defying dangers to obtain them. She is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, weapons training, and foreign languages  and does them all in tight outfits as per the video game.

Angelina's looks definitely helped fill the tight outfits role, and being the daughter of actor Jon Voight gave her a good background in acting.

The movie made Angelina an international movie star, thus during the summer of 2003 the sequel, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, was released.

After seeing her at the SDCC movies program Tina and I acquired more respect for her as she came across very well to her audience of over 6,000 in speaking and answering questions from her fans. Before that program Tina didn't all that much of her. She came across a lot better than Halle Berry did in the same hall in the program before Angelina's.

Angelina later starred in 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow', with Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow which I really enjoyed also !

For those interested in action / adventure comic books similar to Tomb Raider, we have several listed in our eBay Featured Store !

Thanks for viewing this comic book blog post.... and feel free to comment!

eBay Is Still Promoting the Transformers !
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Book Movies

 Transformers Hub

The new movie Transformers opens in theaters on July 4th, and eBay has started the fun a little early.
To celebrate the opening of the movie, eBay has created a new Transformers Hub at :
There you'll find all things Transformers, such as movie trailers, exclusive still photos, and links to Transformers-related merchandise and eBay Groups.
.
This is on top of the fact that the Transformers Movie is getting a LOT OF BUZZ already.... because Steven Spielberg is Executive Producer of this movie!   PLUS Director Michael Bay is going to deliver a live-action theatrical film based on the 1980s cartoon about robotic aliens using Earth as a battleground!
The movie is jam-packed with cool effects, action and Michael Bay's signature talent for blowing stuff up! Take a look at the Movie Trailer when you get a chance!

For those of you that are new to the Transformers Universe, it can be a complicated one to understand!

The Transformers toyline, cartoon series, comic books, and previous movie all owe their existence to the Japanese toyline, Microman. In 1980, the Microman spin off, Diaclone, was released. It featured inch-tall humanoid figures who were able to sit in the drivers' seats of scale model vehicles.  The vehichles could transform into humanoid robot bodies the drivers piloted... whew what a concept!!

My main interest is in the Marvel Comics comic book line. Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief at that time, Jim Shooter, produced a story concept for the series, creating the idea of the two warring factions of alien robots – the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons.

Having the concept Shooter then called upon veteran comics editor Dennis O'Neil to create character names and profiles for the cast of characters. Unfortunately O’Neill’s work – for whatever reason – did not meet with Hasbro’s expectations, and they requested heavy revisions to the whole concept.

O’Neill declined to make the requested revisions, and the project was then turned down by several other writers and editors until editor Bob Budiansky accepted the daunting task. After a weekend's marathon of work, Budiansky’s new names and profiles were a hit with Hasbro, and thus production began on a bi-monthly four-issue comic book miniseries, and three-part television pilot! The Transformers TV show, toy line and comic book series went on to great success in the USA !

NOTE:  There was a previous Transformers movie before this new one due out in July....  In 1986 the summer release of  'The Transformers: The Movie' was released. However it was a critical and box-office flop. Hopefully this new movie will increase exposure to the Transformers Universe!

For those interested in 'Transformers' and other Toy based  comics we have several of those comic books in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store and more in our eBay Pro Store !

Did You Know About The TWILIGHT ZONE ARCHIVES ?
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: TV Shows

We All Know That

The Twilight Zone...

...was a Great TV Show Series!

However most people don't know that the Twilight Zone had FOUR Comic Book Sets !

This past week we sold some of the TZ comics we have for sale to 'The Twilight Zone Archives' and after checking out their web site, wanted to recommend it to you for viewing!  It is on the web at: Click Here   The web pages make fascinating reading !!

For others of you that are also interested in Twilight Zone Comics, there were two one-shot comics published by Dell Comics in their Four Color series, #1173 (May 1961) & #1288 (April 1962) .

Then the Gold Key Comics comic books series was published from 1962 to circa 1982 ending with issue #92.

A now defunct company, 'Now Comics', (no pun intended), published the second volume from November 1991 to March 1993.

As a lot of comic book companies did in the 1990's, Now Comics stopped publishing the second volume, and with a new #1 issue, started volume three in May 1993 which ended with #4 in August 1993. Supposedly comic companies could sell a lot of #1 issues, so several long running comic titles were 'rebooted' this way!

Compare this with the TV show, which ran from 1959 to 1964 in its' first series with 156 different episodes.

After Rod Serling sold his shares of the Twilight Zone back to the network that originally ran them, the TV Show had its' first revival from 1985 - 1989.

Then the Twilight Zone had a 2 hour TV Movie in 1994, which did not go on to become a TV Show series.

It wasn't until 2002 that UPN had a revival of the show with Forest Whitaker as the narrator. Unfortunately that revival only ran until 2003!

For those interested in Twilight Zone Comics and other HoRRoR / MoNSTer comics, we have several hundred comic books in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store.

Thank you for reading this comic books blog post, and feel free to comment!  Plus take a look at the Twilight Zone Archives !
