Witchcraft...

Tales Of The Supernatural!

Before the advent of the CCA (Comics Code Authority) in the mid 1950's, there were plenty of publishers printing HoRRoR and MoNSTer comics!

Avon Comics was one of those publishers, and they grabbed the title 'Witchcraft' and published a few issues of that series. To the top left is one of the 'tamer' comic book covers from the series!

The covers were what sold the comics in those days on newstands, so bright colors, fantastic scenes, and great shocking names were the fashion of the day!

We have an ongoing comic book newstand ourselves here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the pic at the top left to see our HoRRoR and MoNSTer genre listings!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

Time To

Get Smart

 Once Again!

We read about the upcoming 6-20-08 movie in the SDCC 2007 program book at last year's Comic Con.

We even touted the program that the movie would be presented at the Con here in our blog.

However we were not able to see the program due to the highly competitive programming schedule last year.

So seeing the movie poster that we blogged about last year really gets me excited about the new movie! This could be a decent update of the original TV Series that I enjoyed!

In this updated movie, Steve Carell (as Maxwell Smart) and Anne Hathaway (as Agent 99) take over the roles originally played by Don Adams and Barbara Feldon who were perfect casting!

Steve and Anne will be joined by a cast that includes Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (as Agent 23), Alan Arkin (as The Chief) and Terrence Stamp (as Siegfried).

The movie's plotline appears to be a familar one, it is supposed to follow the agents of CONTROL as they battle KAOS.

I am not always a fan of updated TV Shows or updated Theatrical Movies... for the most part I am usually disappointed.

However, if the Movie Poster is any indication of what the movie will be like... then the production staff is on the right track!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post! We do have several TV and Movie Comics / Mags listed for sale. Just click on the photo cover to view all of our listings!

The Rat Patrol!

The Rat Patrol Was a 1966-68 ABC TV Show!

It lasted two seasons and starred two actors I liked at that time, Christopher George and Hans Gudegast (a.k.a. Eric Braeden).

It was also a 5 issue comic book series from Dell Comics, that lasted from March 1967 to November 1967.

I really enjoyed seeing this show when it first aired!

At the top left is the theme song and below that is an issue from the series. Just click on the comic to see all of our War Comics and Mags!

Haunted Love ! Tales Of Gothic Romance!

So often in publishing there have been combinations of genres.

Comics are no different. When one genre is having a sales spiral downward, the publishers look to see what is selling, and try to combine the two genres together to see if they can breathe new life into the old...

The comic book to the top left is but one of those attempts.  Romance comics were falling out of favor while HoRRoR comics were seeing a resurgence in the early 1970's.

Thus 'Haunted Love' and other titles of that ilk were born!

We have an ongoing comic book convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the pic at the top left to see our HoRRoR Comics genre listings!

Let's Go Marines!

There have been many war comic books published since the 1930's...

Seems like each publisher printing comics would have at least one war comic book title.

Even Dell Comics, who would not join the CCA - Comics Code Authority for censoring comics, had several one-shot publications such as 'The Lieutenant' pictured to the above left.

Marines, Navy Men, Army Men and more would have their own comic titles to choose from.

Personally I enjoyed either the comics with photo covers from TV Shows or the Dinosaur Covers from DC's series 'The War That Time Forgot'!

We have an ongoing comic book convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the pic at the top left to see our War Comics genre listings!
