Please Note: Some of the Films listed in this blog post include Films that were based on toys that later became come books. Or Video Games That later became comic books. Or cartoons based on comic book concepts. I am including these due to fact that the 'comic book movie' genre is becoming a more mainstream 'cross-over' into other film genres.

The listings above includes films that have grossed over $200,000,000 at the world wide box offices during their theatrical runs.

All amounts posted are in USA dollars and only include theatrical box office receipts (movie ticket sales)!

Please Note: The Dollar Figures are not adjusted for inflation, thus this may show the film ranking lower than say a year or two ago...

I am sure this blog posting will prompt some comments... if you are reading this on our eBay Blog, just email us thru eBay's mail program.

Thanks for reading our pop culture - comics - comic book blog post!

Smallville TV Show

Action Figures!

Smallville, the TV Show, has many fans that have helped keep the series on the air.

Thanks to their efforts, DC Direct is presenting the launch of the world’s greatest Superhero team in Action Figure forms, 'Smallville' style!

There was a great moment on the Smallville episode titled “Justice,” where some of Earth’s greatest heroes came together for the first time on TV!

The heroes were: Green Arrow (Oliver Queen), Impulse (Bart Allen), Aquaman (Arthur “AC” Curry) and Cyborg (Victor Stone), and of course Superboy (Clark Kent).

These figures are expected to be on sale May 7, 2008 !

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

'The 4400' Season 5 Is Cancelled

We first caught this show at the July 2007 San Diego Comic Con International, (SDCC), as we kept running into programs / panels that Ira Steven Behr was sitting on.

Suffice to say that after seeing and hearing him so many times we decided to give this show a try...

We rented the DVDs to catch up on previous seasons and enjoyed them.

We were waiting for the next season to start, but found out during this vacation week that the show would not be coming back...

It did seem strange when the Season Finale of Season 4 ended.  Everything was wrapping up quickly. It almost seemed like a series finale, but nothing was announced.

There was a lot of closure to sub plots which made seeing the Finale a must watch episode.

However the TV Guide reports that this show and another (that we don't watch) are cancelled.

This is a shame in my opinion, as The 4400 was a very good sci-fi show.

For those of you that have not seen it, give it a try via DVD which is the best way to view this series.

Our thanks to Ira Behr for turning us on to this series. And our thanks to the cast and crew for making this a fun series to watch!

Michael (and Tina)

Since We First Blogged About It: Jan-25-08-07:09:13 PST

At times all of the blog posts since

American Idol - Season 7.... So Far !

Posted Jan-24-08 17:23:21 PST

don't show up... and then upon 'refreshing' the page the newer blog posts MAY show up! That is very inconsistent!

Per our Blog Stats... The numbers of blog visitors for the last two days has dramatically decreased!

Our apologies to our blog readers as this has been reported by us and a few other eBay Bloggers per their blog posts on the eBay Blogs.

This is NOT the first time this happened, and we just want to mention that we have attempted to have it corrected.

FYI, we also blog post in our non-eBay Blog at:

http://www.comicbookcollectorsblog.com/

should this problem be ongoing....

That blog contains similar blog posts, and is on a different server which has not had problems to date...

Our Blog had been averaging 698 visitors a day, and the numbers of visitors the last two days have been way short of that, probably due our posts not being accessible... Again our apologies!

However, Thanks to those who are reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post after finding it! We do appreciate it and want you to come back for more informative blog posts!

Voyagers!

Was A 1982 TV Series!

And Is Now A DVD Set!

I have to admit that I am fascinated by Time Travel TV Series. Those series included 'Time Tunnel' in the 1960's, 'Quantum Leap' in the 1990's, and most recently 'Journeyman' in the 2000's.

One that I haven't blogged about in the past was the TV Series 'Voyagers!', which was broadcast in the 1982-1983 season on NBC.

Starting on October 3, 1982 the series had Phineas Bogg (played by Jon-Erik Hexum) as one of a society of time travelers called 'Voyagers'.

Phineas along with the help of a young boy named Jeffrey Jones, (who was played by Meeno Peluce), used a hand-held device called an 'Omni' (that looked much like an old time large pocket watch) to travel thru time and ensured that history unfolded as we knew it in 1982.

In the first episode Jeffrey ensured that baby Moses' basket traveled down the Nile where it was met by Pharaoh's daughter. With Jeffrey it wasn't going to turn out that way...

For you new viewers, I want to point out that there are several running gags in the episodes.

The biggest one is Phineas' lack of knowledge on important historical dates, so which the kid Jeffrey helps him set time right.

Phineas also has a fear of dogs, (i.e. Indiana Jones and snakes).

With his good looks, Phineas is of course a great womanizer and somehow falls for a beautiful woman almost every episode!

After blogging on this series, I realize now that I truly enjoyed this show when it was on... at the time it seemed like a kid's show, but it was good fun and escapist fare!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post!

Michael
