Beatles Comic Book Going... Going... Gone!
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Comic Book History

Beatles

Comic Book

Going...

 Going...

Gone!

On April 21st we had an email from an eBayer who had a comic book like the one to the right that they wanted to know the value of!

Since our 2,000+ archived blog posts are listed on search engines and blog directories, we are easy to find.  And we don't mind answering questions!

This eBayer had a copy of the Dell Beatles Comic Book with all the posters intact and wanted to know the 'value' of it.

Without seeing a scan of the actual item it was hard to know, but I pointed out to them the completed listings on eBay to see what the comic has recently sold for.

As a matter of fact, one copy was sold by a fellow dealer friend of ours close by in San Marcos, California for $77.64, while another copy was recently sold for $53.77!

So, we then received another email from that eBayer 'maddoxn' who had listed it on auction for only three days with NO Reserve! The item listing number was: 140226676443, and at the time of our post was then at the bid price of $1.00! However, eBay then proceeded to have a '10 cent listing day sale for Powersellers only' which flooded the market of listings for comics!

Well, we are still pleased to announce that this copy, (which with writing on the front cover could not be any better than Very Good 'VG'), sold for $51.00!

Please note: We are not affiliated with this eBayer, nor had we seen the actual comic book or a large scan either. Just that this item is desirable by both Beatles Fans and Comics Fans! A cross-over collectible reaches more potential buyers!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and please visit our blog again!

Dell Comics are great collectibles because their photo covers are usually highly sought after by fans of the character(s) pictured on the front cover!

Please note: The above was NOT the copy of the Beatles Comic Book that is talked about in this blog post! There are seven photos on that listing to get a better idea of the grade of the comic book. Listing number is: 140226676443 for those of you interested in viewing it. (There does appear to be writing at the top right of the front cover which would keep it grading higher than a VG 'Very Good'. Note: I have not seen the actual comic, it could grade lower than that.)

Honey West...

Anne Francis

aka

'Honey West'

My thanks to a fellow eBay Blogger 'sholmes202' for blogging about Anne Francis last night.

I was not aware that she was battling cancer.

Anne has been known for her charitable causes, but earlier in the 1950's and 1960's I too remember her as a very good actress!

The standout film for me of hers is of course 'Forbidden Planet'!

Plus she was the star of a 1966 TV Series, 'Honey West' when she was 36 years old.

She even had a one shot comic book title, 'Honey West' shown at the above right from September 1966!

My thoughts are with her during her battle with this cancer...

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale. You are invited to
come back and visit us again!

The 'Guide' Value ?
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Comic Book History

Do YOU

Want To Know The 'Guide Value' Of Your Comic Books?

Then what you need is a Comic Book Price Guide!

For those of you that go to either estate sales, comic book conventions, swap meets, or even garage sales, having a 'hard copy' comic book price guide is the way to go! Having an 'online guide' doesn't help when your'e not connected!

When collectors ask "what does it guide for?", this is the 'Guide' they are usually referencing to. And no, it doesn't mean that you will get that much for your comic, just that it is a 'guide' as to what value is placed on it. Sometimes you'll see listings as 'half guide', or '2x guide' etc.

We use the one standard reference that has been in print since the 1970's, and that is the 'Overstreet's Comic Book Price Guide'!

Since we refer to it so much we purchase the Spiral Bound Edition, which is coming out the final week of May 2008 if you want to wait for that edition!

And the latest edition, #38, is out now for purchase.

No, we don't have it for sale, but just wanted to give all of our blog readers a 'heads up' that it has been published!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! You are welcome to
come back and visit us again!

So Who's HOT This Morning In Our Archived Blog Posts 04-25-08?

So Who's

'Hot'

In Our Archived Blog Posts This Morning?

None Other Than...

Laura Vandervoort

(Again?) !

The regular Readers of our Blog know that I check our Blog Stats daily!

This morning, (approx 6 a.m. PST) it is Laura Vandervoort's time once again to be 'Hot' because right now her archived blog post of 12-02-07 is reaching 16% of our blog viewership!

In that blog post I blogged that Laura had already appeared at a pop culture / comic book convention and would still be a 'HOT' personality that fans were looking for to have autographs from!

What amazes me is that the blog posts on Laura that I have published in our Blog continue to be in the Top 25 most viewed blog posts day in and day out!

I wonder if the producers of the 'Smallville' TV Show really know what a 'Hot' commodity she truly is??

The only other personality(ies) that give Laura any competition in our Blog are the Bettie Page / Jennifer Connelly Rocketeer connection archived blog posts that continue to be viewed on a daily basis!

For those new to us... we have ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and come back to visit us again!

Man.... Or.... Monster???
Mood:  hungry
Topic: Comic Book History

Man.... Or.... Monster?

No, I'm not blogging about the Incredible Hulk, who was in turn both a man... and a monster!

I'm blogging about Ben Grimm aka 'the Thing', from the Fantastic Four Comics who first hit the newstands back in 1961!

In a previous blog post I mentioned that I thought he was 'The Greatest American Hero', although that title was already taken by a superhero on a TV Show! ( Click Here for that Post)!

Anyway, right after 'The Galactus Trilogy' in issues #48-50 of the Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (which was the basis to the FF Movie 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer), was a stand-alone issue that separated that Trilogy from the two part introduction of the Black Panther!

That issue #51 is one of my favorite issues of the first 100 issues of the FF because it dealt with the man who by outward appearances looks like a monster!

The story was well written with characterization and smoothly drawn, almost like a motion picture!

Back in the 'old days' I used to give that issue away to friends to show them what comics could be like instead of the kiddee zap! bam! zowee! that comics were thought to be like in the mid 1960's!

This was true literature and had a moral to the story besides! Great Ending!

If you have never read this story from 1966... then you have missed one of the 'classics' that will stand the test of time!

The story can be found in several reprint formats Marvel currently has in print so you don't have to spend a lot to get a back copy of this issue!

For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
