 Heroes TV Show

04-30-07

' Chapter 20 '

I have been intentionally NOT posting blogs posts on this show as it has repeatedly been showing graphic violence with extreme gore in multiple scenes before the show went on hiatus.

Monday night's show, Chapter 20, was the first show in many weeks that actually was able to tell the story, further the plot line and be entertaining all at the same time without using extreme gore for a change!

I was hoping to find that all the previous weeks worth of chapters would culminate in a big episode before the season ending finale, and it did with this chapter being set five years in the future and putting most of the pieces together!

And once again it's 'Save the Cheerleader... Save the World' time!

So much has happened in this future, that it would take several blog posts just to fill you in.... which I may do after a few more weeks go by, don't want to ruin it for those of you that haven't seen it yet. We just viewed it last night, as we watch '24' and tape 'Heroes' !

For those interested in TV shows like 'Heroes', we have several Movie and TV based comic books in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store .  Just click on the link provided!

Well, Did Anyone See It ?

They Came Back......

...the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES that is !!!!

That's right.... TMNT !!!!   Turtles in a half-shell !!!

We posted that the movie was coming out, and just haven't seen anything about how good or bad or even 'fair to middling' that it was!  Did YOU see it... and if so, what's your thoughts????

I remember when my boys first started watching the TV Show.... and it sounded so good.... that I joined them !!

They then started their own collections of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, the Archie Series, which we added to at the SDCC making purchases there.

The TV show became a little formula-driven with rehashes of the same plot, but we did check out the movies and they were ok for live action fun....

Anyway, for those that missed the movie, check this teaser trailer out and wait for the DVD !!!

TMNT Movie Trailer

SPOILER WARNING (Basis of the Movie):

----------------------------------------------------------------

After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Strugg ling to keep them together, their rat sensei, Master Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters is amassing an army of ancient monsters to apparently take over the world.

---------------------------------------------------------------

END OF SPOILER WARNING !

Cowabunga dudes! (and dudettes!) !

New York City Has Welcomed...

the Amazing Spider-Man !

Yes, that's right !!

Monday's 'Today Show' featured the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man Movie, proving that NYC has been bitten by the Spider-Man bug!

New York City has been the home to Peter Parker and his web-slinging alias, 'Spider-Man' since 1962!

Besides the 'Today Show' featuring the cast of the film, now the City is finally commemorating the May 4th opening  of Spider-Man 3 with a week-long tribute of exhibits and events that started April 30th!

The city's American Museum of Natural History is featuring a 'spider' exhibit just before the film opens.

The New York Botanical Garden will host workshops on baby 'spider' plants.

The Children's Museum of Manhattan will honor the villain 'Green Goblin' with a display of the original costume and mask, plus a mask-making workshop on site.

Well, all I can say to the above is... Make Mine Marvel !

For those interested in seeing the Spider-Man comics that the movies are based on, we have several hundreds in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store

Our Take

On American Idol's Show Last Night...

05-01-07    THE TOP 6   ( Again???? )

( Yes, Because NO ONE Got Kicked Off LAST WEEK, So TWO Go Home This Week ! )

Once again we have our thoughts on American Idol's show from last night to post today, it's getting to be a fun habit sharing them with you!

And true to form, you get both Tina's and my thoughts on the performances !

(Reminder:  Tina and I come from different music backgrounds and musical tastes.  She's an East Coast girl and I am a Navy Brat from the West Coast with Midwest Roots!  I'm a 'Baby Boomer' and Tina was born at the tail end of the 'Boomer' generation, so she is much more influenced by the following generation's music ! )

Click Here for 3rd party graded comics! Tina's recap of the night first:

After Ryan Seacrest states that the theme of the night is 'taking on the music of Jon Bon Jovi - "No Rockers in this group, this is going to be weird! "

"Jon Bon Jovi - Cute yes, but what - couldn't they get Steven Tyler or were they afraid he'd crack the camera lens?! "

(Note: Michael says:  "I know Jon Bon Jovi from the 'Ally McBeal' TV show, what songs did his group do? ")

The comments on the performances are shown in the following link:

Why Are So Many Comic Books From the 1970's Cut Up??

If You own a Marvel comic book from the time period of 1974-1976, Your comic book may be incomplete !

Why????

Well back in March of 1974, Marvel Comics ran a campaign that enticed readers to cut out a certain portion of each comic!

Every month pictures of its' most popular characters, either heroes or villains, were printed onto the Letters Pages section of various comics.  The Letter Page would be where Stan Lee or others of the 'Bullpen' printed either editorials, coming attractions or fan mail.

The pictures appeared in the format of a numbered 'stamp'.  To the chagrin of today's collectors the readers of the comics were encouraged to both "clip 'em and collect 'em".  Yikes !!

Ultimately there were 100 different stamps in the set and those first 100 are referred to as the 'Series A'  group.

Later on that year, in-house ads were printed to entice the reader to send away for a Mighty Marvel Value Stamp Book to place their 'Value Stamps' in.  The cost of the book was just 50 cents.

Unfortunately for collectors, the campaign was so successful that in December of 1975 Marvel produced a second set, referred to as 'Series B'.  This group consisted of 100 value stamps too, but these were really different from the first set.  Each of the stamps was not of an individual character but a single piece that formed one full image, similar to a puzzle.

Once again, in-house printed ads in the comics offered another Mighty Marvel Value Stamp Book to paste them into for the same price of only 50 cents!

So coming to today, a Marvel Comic from this 1974 - 76 era with its Marvel Value Stamp clipped out loses most of its  value.  It is so necessary to stress when listing a comic with the stamp out, that when grading such a comic, there is a term specifically created to identify it, the 'Marvel Value Stamp Flaw'.

For those interested in Marvel comic books we have several thousand of their comics listed in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store!  Thanks for reading this comic book blog post! Feel free to comment!

The above Marvel Value Stamp Books are the two culprits for why your Marvel Comic may be cut up! The Marvel Value Stamps that were cut out of the comics were placed in these two albums!!
