For He Is Coming... Yes The One & Only Silver Surfer !!

Yes, the Silver Surfer who is the star of the next Fantastic Four Movie: 'Rise of the Silver Surfer'. He is the herald for that world-eater named 'Galactus' !

The Movie is coming YOUR way June 15th in theaters near you !

For those that aren't familiar with the Surfer, he first appeared in the Fantastic Four Comic Books, issues #48 thru #50 in what is known as the 'Galactus Trilogy' in 1966.

According to the multiple stories around the creation of the Surfer, Stan Lee wrote a synopsis about the most powerful being ever in the Universe coming to Earth to consume it for energy.

Jack Kirby, the artist and co-plotter thought that such a being would have a herald, one who would search out planets for Galactus ahead of time before he got hungry.  Jack came up with the idea of the Surfer, and Stan  added 'Silver' and wrote the dialogue of the Trilogy.

Note: The Fantastic Four themselves were first written by Stan Lee and pencilled by co-creator Jack Kirby for their publisher Martin Goodman back in 1961.

For those interested in checking out the Fantastic Four comics run we have several unslabbed and CGC graded comics listed in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store.

Spider-Man Movie Still Worth Seeing !

Spider-Man 3 STILL #1 At The Theaters! !

(According to Media By Numbers LLC)

Even after taking a large drop in revenue in its' second week, Spider-Man still topped the charts with $60 million dollars in estimated ticket sales from the previous Friday to Sunday the 13th!

The drop was a 60% plunge, but still outweighed its' nearest competitor '28 Weeks Later' which came in at an estimated $10 million dollars in ticket sales!

Spider-Man 3 has now hurtled past the Warner Bros film '300' as the year's top grossing film, which had taken in $208 million dollars!  For those of you that don't know, '300' was taken from a graphic novel (prestige comic book)!

Looking forward to see how Spidey fares against Shrek 3 this weekend, and Pirates the following week.... We have a large choice of films that need to be seen on the BIG SCREEN to be appreciated!

Our Take On American Idol's Final 3 Show 05-15-07

Our Take

On American Idol's Show From Last Night

05-15-07    THE FINAL 3   First Posting

Today   we have our thoughts on American Idol's show from last night!

And once again, you get both Tina's and my thoughts on the performances, this time on all three rounds !

(Reminder:  Tina and I come from different music backgrounds and musical tastes.  She's an NorthEast Coast girl and I am a Navy Brat from the West Coast with Midwest Roots!  I'm also a 'Baby Boomer' and Tina was born at the tail end of the 'Boomer' generation, so she is much more influenced by the following generation's music ! )

Click Here for 3rd party graded comics! Michael's pre-show thoughts first:

All I could read today in our North County Times (San Diego), and the USA Today was how Blake's out.... Blake's out... Melinda's the Pick.... Melinda's Got It... Jordin is nice and should win... Jordin's being in Final 2 would be nice, etc, etc.  Seemed that the newspaper judges had already pre-picked the Final 2 based on favortism, and not performance.  Of course now it's the Final 3 so favortism is OK !!

The Performances:

Last Night the Contestants Performed in 3 Rounds; Judges Song Pick, Producers' Song Pick, and the Contestants Own Song Pick. The comments on each round are below (please click on link to see rest of post): Click Here

TV Show Cowboys ...

Topic: TV Shows

TV Show Cowboys ...

and Comic Books!

I have posted previously about a few TV Shows that also had a one-shot comic book, or a comic book series...several of those comics were from the publisher, Dell Comics .

For example: 'Roy Rogers Comics' series ran for 145 issues from January 1948 to September 1961.

Additionally Roy Roger's horse Trigger received his own title running for 17 issues from September 1951 to June 1955.

Other TV Western Shows were as follows:

Bonanza was published by Gold Key Comics.

Maverick had a short run from Dell.

The Lone Ranger lasted for many issues, and his horse Silver had a short series.

Wagon Train was popular!

Johnny Yuma, the Rebel had an issue.

Have Gun Will Travel had several issues.

Buffalo Bill Jr was printed by Dell Comics.

Adventures of Jim Bowie was published.

Cheynne had a few issues.

Colt.45 had a few issues.

The Cisco Kid had several issues.

Dale Evans was featured in her own comic, Queen of the West!

Davy Crockett, tho technically not a true 'western' had a few comics based on the Walt Disney TV show.

Gunsmoke, the longest running western on TV lasted several years on the comic books stands.

Even the dog, Rin Tin Tin, had its' own series!!

Sugarfoot, (anyone remember that show?) had its' own comic.

Tales of Wells Fargo had a few issues.

Tombstone Territory had a one-shot issue!

Texas Rangers had a few issues also.

Surprisingly this list could go on and on, it seems that whenever comic book publisher found a good seller, others in the industry would copy that genre and print some of their own!

Sounds like the TV industry today, with new shows copying 'Lost' !

If I missed listing your favorite TV Western and you believe it had at least one comic book issue devoted to it, feel free to list it below in your comments!

For those interested in Western Comics we have several unslabbed comics listed in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store.
