Cassandra 'ELVIRA' Peterson Will Be at SDCC in July !

Elvira will be celebrating her 25th Anniversary as a HoRRoR Hostess this year! She is scheduled to appear at this July's SDCC Int'l, (San Diego Comic Con International). Check back for further details as we print them here in our Blog !

Besides being known as a HoRRoR Movie Star, and HoRRoR TV Hostess, would you believe she is also on her second comic book series ??!!

She had a DC Comic Book Series, 'Elvira's House of Mystery' in 1986 that ran for 11 eleven issues. Currently she has a comic from Claypool Comics which has over 161 issues published so far and was started in 1993!

For those that aren't aware... Elvira is the alter ego of Cassandra Peterson who was born September 17, 1949.

Elvira gained fame on the Los Angeles television station KHJ wearing a black, gothic, cleavage-enhancing gown as host of Movie Macabre, a weekly horror movie presentation, from 1981 - 1993.

Her wickedly vampish appearance was offset by her comical character, quick witted personality and Valley girl-type speech. Although when portraying the Elvira character she wears a large black wig, Peterson herself is a natural redhead.

I lived in LA during the early years of Elvira being on TV, moved back to San Diego area and watched her go on to nationwide fame. She has had several tie-ins to Halloween events, which she naturally fits right in with!

At a recent SDCC program, (2001), Elvira presented a feature showing of her latest movie 'Elvira's Haunted Hills' which I sat thru most of it.... it was the right type of crowd to see the movie with !!

Besides her movies on DVD and a licensed comic book, Elvira has a MySpace Page, and an offical web site. Not bad for someone who took over the Fright Night Show from 'Sinister Seymour' in LA all those years ago !!

In the Meantime For Those of You That Missed It, Here's the Heroes TV Show 05-21-07 Season Finale ' Chapter 23 ' Review

'How To Stop An Exploding Man' was the Chapter's Title tonight... and it was what the whole season has led to.... for those that have not seen the ending and don't wish to know...

DON'T READ THE BELOW! SPOILER WARNING !

Open to scene at Kirby Plaza Building - Medical Offices: Continued from last episode... Molly realizes she knows Parkman.. he had promised to protect her... which he does now!

Peter tells Nathan in underground parking structure that Sylar will be the bomb... not him as he had once thought!

Peter time travels to recent past... sees his mother talking to Charles, (the dying black man), he had been taking care of. Charles knows that Peter is there watching, but can't see him... Charles tells Peter how to save the world... "All that matters is Love" !

The battle scene: Claire has to shoot Peter. "Future Not Written In Stone" is verbalized. Nathan says to Peter you saved the cheerleader so we can save the world! With that Nathan flies Peter high into the air... BIG FLASH erupts ... (bomb?)...

End of Volume One...

However, Volume Two Starts tonight with an opening scene..

Hiro lands in feudal Japan, outside Kyoto Japan... the year is 1671... then darkness overcomes him and the soldiers that looked like they were coming to fight him... the darkness is a solar eclipse!

We enjoyed this season finale as it tied up some loose ends, and left us wanting to see more... we'll be back next year for sure for the opener! (However if it continues with the excessive gore, it may lose us afterwards.)

STAR WARS Is Celebrating Its' 30th Anniverary With 15 New USPS Stamps !

Your local USPS office had the stamps shown on the right up for sale on May 24th, 2007. They may not be 'Forever' Stamps, but they do look sharp for current postage! With the millions being printed, they probably won't end up being collectible.

Depicted on the new Star Wars saga commemorative sheet are 15 First-Class Mail stamps featuring familiar characters and vehicles from the six movies in the saga.

They include Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca, Princess Leia Organa and R2-D2, C-3PO, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Emperor Palpatine, Imperial Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, the “Millennium Falcon,” an X-wing starfighter, Queen Padmé Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, and Darth Maul. (Whew!)

Believe it or not, thirty million Star Wars commemorative sheets ,(totalling 450 million Star Wars stamps), are being printed !!

I first saw the original Star Wars movie, (Episode 4), when it first came out. I have since seen all 6 of the movies, but the first three released are still my favorites!

The stamp sheet to the top right is not to be missed for collectors of Star Wars memorabilia for their personal collections!

We Will Be Flying Our Whirligigs This Weekend At Our BBQ !

That's right! We are having out of town family members over for a BBQ tomorrow, which reminded me to put out the whirligigs that we have! People are fascinated by the whirlibirds catching gusts of wind and flying like crazy!! Tina painted one for herself after my dad cut it out for her. He crafts and sells animals, birds, and cartoon whirligigs right here on eBay in his own eBay store!

Why should YOU have a whirligig? Well if you take a few minutes to properly install your whirligig, wherever you buy one from, it should give you years of pleasure...

The main considerations are that the setup is strong enough to endure wind in your area, and that the wings or legs on your whirlibird don't hit obstructions -such as top of the fence.

Safety precuations, moving parts can spin fast. Install so as to not present a danger to other people.

Using a Pole - To get the height needed for clearance, most people use a pole or dowel.

To avoid splitting the pole, you may need to drill a 3/16" diameter hole 1 " deep.

Then tap the setup nail that was included with your Whirlibird point down into the hole.

The Whirlibird should be able to turn freely on a setup nail, without scraping the top of the pole.
Also make sure your Whirlibird doesn't hit the side of the pole as it turns.

If you don't have a setup nail, (if one didn't come with a whirli you bought somewhere else),then cut the head off a 20d penny sized four inch galvanized common nail.

Have fun flying your new whirli ! We sure will today!

STAR WARS Is Celebrating Its' 30th Anniverary This Weekend With A Convention in LA !

PLUS your local USPS office had the stamps shown on the right up for sale on May 24th, 2007.
