What I liked about Dell Comic Books was that so many of their TV Show issues had photo covers of the Star(s) of The Show, such as the one pictured above with my favorite girl singer of the early 1960's, Annette Funicello!

Zorro TV Show

Starring Guy Madison!

The Zorro TV Show had a strange history in that it was both featured  as a TV series, and a few hour long shows on the Disney show on ABC!

This TV Show aired from 1957  to 1959 on the ABC Network. Then Zorro was on the Disney Show in 1960 and 1961 as 4 one hour long shows.

The TV series itself  had 78 episodes during its' run.

Almost everyone knows the story of Zorro, but a lot of people don't know that Annette Funicello, another Disney Star, was on Season 2 of the TV Show as 'Anita Cabrillo'.

I myself missed most of the episodes, as they were on Thursday nights at 8pm, so my folks must have been watching either 'December Bride' or the 'Ed Wynn Show'?

Anyway, I still have several of my Annette collectibles, but never did get the above comic book to add to my collection!

Supposedly the TV Show ended due to a dispute between ABC and Disney!

Have Gun, Will Travel

Starring Richard Boone!

No, It's NOT the title of a terrorist TV Show or even a James Bond Film!

This TV Show aired from 1957  to 1963 on CBS.

The show lasted for 225 episodes, reaching the #4 top show per the Nielsen Ratings its' first year, and was #3 for the next three years. Westerns were really popular on TV back then!

The show followed the adventures of Paladin, who was a gentleman turned gunfighter.

We never learned his name, but in the first episode of the final season, we learned his origin!

This gunfighter came with his own calling card, the 'Knight' of the chessboard.

Indeed the theme song refers to him as a 'knight without armor'!

Only 18 Days Away Now!

Back in December 2004 Fox 2000 Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Bagdasarian Productions announced it would produce a live-action / computer-generated event motion picture on Alvin and the Chipmunks!

The long awaited movie will be released this upcoming Holiday Season On December 14th 2007!

The Chipmunk trio and Dave Seville made recording, broadcasting and merchandising history by selling 43 million albums, starring in their own animated primetime series, plus numerous primetime specials, and the number one network Saturday Morning shows seen in over 100 countries in 40 languages during the course of their existence.

I enjoyed Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid, and of course had one of their Christmas albums that would drive anyone nuts playing it too long!  Those squeaky voices can get to you after a while.... !

Bat Masterson

Starring Gene Barry!

Bat Masterson was another of the 1950's American Western Television Shows I like blogging about!

This TV Show aired from 1958  to 1961 on the NBC Network.

The show lasted for 3 Seasons with 107 episodes.

The television show portrayed the fictionalized life of the real-life marshall/gambler/dandy in a half hour series.

Bat Masterson dressed in expensive Eastern style clothing, and was loathe to use a gun.

Instead he quite often used his cane, thus gaining the name 'Bat' Masterson due to his prowess with his cane!

What most viewers don't know is that Gene reprised his 'Bat Masterson' role again in 1990 and 1991 in two other TV shows as a guest star!
