Now This Was A Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Mood:  sad
Topic: TV Shows

Click here to see all of our current listings!

One of best things about the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade for me back when I was growing up were the giant balloon figures!  As befits a blog about comics and other pop culture topics, the above balloon figure is of Superman as seen in the 1940 Parade!

For all of our comic book, magazines, and other pop culture listings, just click on the photo above!

Welcome To Our World! Our Shipments AREN'T delivered by the Batmobile, Just the USPS!

Used To Look Forward To Viewing The  Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Now, I'm not that old... wasn't even born during the Parade that the Superman Balloon seen at top left was in!

But I do remember the Macy's Parades when I was younger, and enjoyed them.

Kind of stopped watching them when the Parade seemed to just be touting the latest TV Show or Musical or Movie or whatever that the TV Network that was broadcasting the parade was promoting...

The stopping in front of the Store and doing a dance routine or act just isn't my kind of a parade.

When Tina and I married a half dozen years ago, she and I would watch the parade as she came from the East Coast and had watched it for more years than I did...

However we just don't watch it with the same fervor that we used to have!

Kind of like the Rose Parade... for me the only Station that shows it right is KTLA Channel 5 in LA, where they don't stop for commericals or tout the latest stars from this season's shows!

Time For Mr. Terrific !

Not all Superheroes received their own comic book throughout the years!

CBS's Mr. Terrific was one of those shows that didn't even get a one-shot publication from Dell Comics like most of favorite TV Shows would!

The actor, Stephen Strimpell, played a mild-mannered gas station attendant named Stanley Beamish in the TV  Show.

However, unknown to all the world, Mr. Beemish was able to become the superhero 'Mr. Terrific' with the help of secret power pills!

To be a little more credible, the pills were developed by the (fictional) government agency, the 'Bureau of Secret Projects'.

Of course you can't have an invincible super hero, so there had to be a weakness... so in this case the pill’s effects lasted for only an hour!

Naturally Mr Terrific would lose his strength at the worst possible times during the show!

Dick Gautier played Stanley’s best friend Hal Walters.

Dick is shown standing at the left in the top left photo. You might better know him as  'Hymie the Robot' on the 'Get Smart' TV Show that was playing at the same time!

BEFORE The Doors Even Open!

Received the Comic Con Update #3 last week and on the inside splash page was an 'Open Letter' to all interested parties.

'Online Registration Is Open Now!'

Because of that, the San Diego Comic Con International expects to SELL OUT of all memberships - 4 day and 1 day memberships -PRIOR to Comic Con even opening its' doors on July 24th of 2008!

Since Opening Day is my birthday, Tina has already bought me my birthday present of a 4 day membeship, (plus hers of course... she's Not going to miss the Hollywood programs)!

If YOU even think of maybe attending next summer, NOW is the time to put those thoughts into action and make the committment to purchase.

No, I'm not an 'employee' or even a 'volunteer' for the con, but I do remember seeing many disappointed people being turned away last year when individual days sold out early!

See comic-con.org for further details.

We hit the 29,000th mark of visitors with approx 94,000 page views at 13:50 PM PDT today, November 19th, with a view of our  October 29th 2007 blog post titled 'Gene Autry And The 20th Century West Exhibition!'.

Tina and I actually went away for the weekend without taking our laptop so there were no blog posts generated!

For those that are new to us, here is a little Background on our Blog:

This Blog started June 7th 2006 shortly after eBay announced the new blogging format.

July 15th 2006 we added on a stats counter as we found most viewers read but didn't comment and we wanted to know if we were being 'read'!

We also started expanding our pop culture topics as we found that more and more bloggers finding us enjoyed several of the TV Shows that we also enjoyed. Thus 'Our Take' on episodes on TV Shows that we watch was born!

We want to thank ALL of you for stopping in and visiting our Blog today. If there are topics we don't discuss but could fit our pop culture - comic books related theme, feel free to add them below!

To view our recent blog posts, just click on the 'squares' in the left column to view those topics!

Regarding our archived blog posts: Please be aware that eBay techs have revised the blogging format, thus our archived posts may be distorted to read... sorry about that but it is out of our control here!

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl!

This live action TV show was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.
The show was originally shown as part of the Krofft Supershow that aired for two seasons, 1976 - 1978!
The 8 stories were shown via 16 episodes, with the first one shown in 1976!
Deidre Hall who played in the soap 'Days of Our Lives' was Electra Woman, and Dyna Girl was played by Judy Strangis.
The two of them in their alter-egos of Lori and Judy, were reporters for 'Newsmaker' Magazine.
Believe it or not, in the year 2000, there was a pilot made for a possible series on the WB!
Markie Post was the New Electra Woman for that pilot!
