Thundercats The Movie!

It's been a couple of months since video game veteran art director Jerry O'Flaherty was announced to be the director for the CG-Animated Thundercats movie for Warner Brothers.

The movie is of course based on the popular 1980's cartoon series that has had toys, comics and other items spring up from the cartoons.

O'Flaherty's background was as art director on bestselling games such as "Gears of War" and "Unreal Tournament 3" for Epic Games.

Of course as soon as it was announced, speculators started buying up old issues of the comics in preparation for a surge in interest!

The "Thundercats" film has not yet started. No word as to if the WGA Strike has affected this movie or not.

Less Than A Month Away!

Back in December 2004 Fox 2000 Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Bagdasarian Productions announced it would produce a live-action / computer-generated event motion picture on Alvin and the Chipmunks!

The long awaited movie will be released this upcoming Holiday Season On December 14th 2007!

The Chipmunk trio and Dave Seville made recording, broadcasting and merchandising history by selling 43 million albums, starring in their own animated primetime series, plus numerous primetime specials, and the number one network Saturday Morning shows seen in over 100 countries in 40 languages during the course of their existence.

I enjoyed Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid, and of course had one of their Christmas albums that would drive anyone nuts playing it too long!  Those squeaky voices can get to you after a while.... !

Never Fear.... His Balloon Is Near !

One of best things about the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade for me back when I was growing up were the giant balloon figures!  As befits a blog about comics and other pop culture topics, the above balloon figure is of Underdog in a 1977 parade route!

Never Fear.... His Balloon Is Near!

I do remember the Macy's Parades when I was younger, and enjoyed watching them on TV because we lived on the West Coast!

Why? Because of all of the giant-sized balloons of some of my favorite cartoon and comic book characters!

In the last several years I have kind of stopped watching the Parade as it just seemed to me to be touting the latest TV Show or Musical or Movie or the 'whatever' that the TV Network that was broadcasting the parade was promoting...

The stopping in front of the Store and doing a dance routine or act just isn't my kind of a parade to watch on the small screen.

When Tina and I married a half dozen years ago, she and I would watch the parade each year on TV as she came from the East Coast and had watched it for more years than I did...

However we just don't watch it with the same fervor that we used to have!

Kind of like the Rose Parade... for me the only Station that shows it right is KTLA Channel 5 in LA, where they don't stop for commericals or tout the latest stars from this season's shows!

The NEXT Green Hornet ???

The above pic was one of the more suitable of the pictures I found of Seth Rogen. After all, Britt Reid aka the Green Hornet is supposed to be a playboy!

Just When I Was Getting Interested!

Was looking to see what new comic books are being talked about as being in the 'pipeline' for release.

Was initially pleased to see that 'The Green Hornet' could be a go... after all Kevin Smith was supposed to be writing it, which would have pleased Tina.

But what's this... Kevin has dropped out, and a Seth Rogen is writing and wanting to star in it??

I checked out the pics of Seth Rogen, and somehow what I've seen just doesn't make me feel comfortable about the flick.

Whereas Van Williams who played the 1966 TV Green Hornet was right on for that genre at the time...

Actors/writers just don't cut it for me... see our blog posts on the next Hulk movie for example...

Anyway the above left pic is one of the better ones of Seth dressed up... as The Green Hornet is a playboy when he is not running around in his 'Black Beauty' car!

Don't Worry You Still Have Time!

We read about the upcoming 6-20-08 movie in the SDCC program book at last year's Comic Con.

We even touted the program that the movie would be presented at the Con here in our blog.

However we were not able to see the program due to the highly competitive programming schedule last year.

So seeing the new poster to the top left really gets me excited about the new movie! This could be a decent update of the original TV Series that I enjoyed!

In this updated movie, Steve Carell (as Maxwell Smart) and Anne Hathaway (as Agent 99) take over the roles originally played by Don Adams and Barbara Feldon who were perfect casting!

Steve and Anne will be joined by a cast that includes Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (as Agent 23), Alan Arkin (as The Chief) and Terrence Stamp (as Siegfried).

The movie's plotline appears to be a familar one, it is supposed to follow the agents of CONTROL as they battle KAOS.

I am not always a fan of updated TV Shows or updated Theatrical Movies... for the most part I am usually disappointed.

However, if this Poster is any indication of what the movie will be like... then the production staff is on the right track!
