This Is Usually Named The WORST Batman Film Of The Franchise

The nominee for 'Worst Batman Film' usually is the 'Batman and Robin' Film.

And the reasons Fanboys say this are multiple in number.

Perhaps the most controversial item to come out of  Director Joel Schumacher’s attempt at mixing the 'grim and grittiness' with 'campiness' was a little addition made to the bat suit.

The addition was 'nipples' to the bat suit.  Boy did that get the Fanboys riled up!

Additionally it was the terrible script, ridiculous costuming, garish sets, and uninspired direction which are most mentioned when this Film is brought up to Batman fans!

This film 'celebrated' its' 10th Anniversary this year... but Fanboys consider that it almost killed the 'Batman' Film Franchise for good, until 'Batman Begins' was recently released!

10th Anniversary of 'Steel' the Film

'Steel' was the name of a 1997 comic book movie starring the basketball star Shaquille O'Neal and also 'X-Files' star Annabeth Gish.

It was a superhero action-adventure film that was based on the DC Comics character of the same name.

The movie which was released on August 15th 2007, was considered a huge disappointment both critically and financially.

The film 'Steel' was produced for an estimated $16,000,000 but grossed only $1,686,429 at the box office during its' run!

Today, this movie is almost always included in everyone's Top 10 WORST Comic Book Movies of all time!

Believe it or not, I've not seen this one, and was only researching it because we have some 'Steel' Comics that we picked up for sale!

But He Started Here First On The Way To Superstardom!

Yes, John Travolta had his first movie role as Billy Nolan, who was a sadistic bully who taunted actress Sissy Spacek's 'Carrie White' in the horror film 'Carrie' which was released in 1976.

But, around the same time as his role in the movie was being developed, John landed his star-making role as 'Vinnie Barbarino' in the half hour TV sitcom 'Welcome Back, Kotter' !

The TV show ran from 1975–1979 and this was definitely the role that launched his career that contines to this day!

He stole the show from the major star Gabe Kaplan, and also was prominently featured on the covers and the interiors of the ten issue comic book run from DC Comics! The series ran from November 1976 to March/April 1978. Plus check out the oversized Special at the top left corner that was printed later!

He later went on to star in many movies including Saturday Night Fever celebrating its' 30th Anniversary this year!

For those interested in seeing more TV and Movie comics, we have several comic books listed in our eBay Featured Store

Many Characters That Robert E Howard Brought To Life!

Robert E Howard, (REH), created Red Sonja, Conan The Barbarian, King Kull, Solomon Kane and others during his short life in Texas!

Beowulf Movie Trailer

Here Are Tina's Thoughts on the preview program she attended at the San Diego Comic Con on the movie:

Neil Gaiman and director Roger Avery gave Comic Con fans a first look at a 2-D trailer for the upcoming movie 'Beowulf', (Paramount Pictures, November 16th, 2007)!

The digitally enhanced live action is their attempt to 'tell the oldest story in the English language', said Gaiman, 'with the technology we have today'.

To me it was a little creepy and alienating, but maybe Angelina Jolie just creeps me out...

Jolie's part of what Gaiman calls his 'bull---- casting'. Gaiman continues with 'You know the game we all play, who would you cast for...??'

Holed up in Mexico writing the screenplay and drinking too much beer Gaiman and Avery speculated on their dream cast; Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich and Crispen Glover.  They were amazed when everyone said yes!

Well, in November we'll see if the the movie is a dream or a nightmare...

Meanwhile, you can formulate your own thoughts on the movie by checking out the movie adaptation in comic book format.  Just click on the SDCC Comic Con comic book Exclusive at the top left corner for a copy!
