He Was

 'The Lost Beach Boy' !

As blogged about before, Tina and I have posted some 'reviews' in the eBay Reviews and Guides Section. The following is one that I just posted today and is being published here also:

While most of the readers of our blog posts and reviews realize that I am into comics and related books and movies, I hardly mention that I grew up in SoCal where The Beach Boys were Kings of the early surf music and hot rod tunes.

This book that features the 'missing link', David Marks, is one heck of a read, and hard to put down!

David made the mistake at a very young age to tell the Wilson boys' father Murry, that he wanted to quit the Beach Boys band at age 15!  This after the Beach Boys had already cut 4 albums and numerous singles!  But at that age sometimes financial thoughts just don't outweigh the actual living on the road touring and coming back in for album sessions hassle.

Additionally, the Wilson brothers later through their dad Murry out from being their manager, so David only left in a different way...

Sad to say David went on with his life trying to recapture the glory days of being a Beach Boy without actually being one. His life on drugs and drink are fully written out in this book and the black and white photos of the early years at 13 being a Beach Boy contrast with his later years...

Kind of like looking at the Beatles early photos, then their long hair and going into mysticism and drugs etc.

This was a really good read, some critics have called it self serving on David's part, but this book is for a niche market. If the early years of the Beach Boys are something you'd like to read about, and then find out what happened to David when Al Jardine came back to the group and took David's place.... then this book is for you!

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
