So How's The Film Faring... Against Marvel's Other Comic Book Movies? Well... we've been telling our Blog Readers that the Iron Man Film was going to be BIG... AND Worth Waiting For AND Watching! So no surprise to us that the Iron Man Film has now reached $178 Million Dollars since its sneak premiere late on Thursday Night on May 1st! So where does that total place the movie at now? This blog post will just compare this new Marvel Comics film versus only other Marvel Comics films released so far:
So Iron Man's start is not bad for a supposed 'second tier' comic book hero from Marvel Comics! Actually according to the latest stats, Iron Man was the 10th biggest opening of all time and the fourth biggest for a superhero movie! Among nonsequels, it came in behind only the first 'Spider-Man 1', which premiered with $114.8 million! I had promised our blog readers earlier that I would publish a photo of Tina wearing her Iron Man t-shirt that was distributed at the Special Iron Man Program at the SDCC 2007 (San Diego Comic Con International)! I ran that photo earlier, actually 2 photos, showing the front and back of the t-shirt. So I'm only re-running the photo with the front of the shirt at the top right... and a pic of one of the Iron Man Film Posters below that for those of you that haven't seen that yet! If you haven't seen our reviews of the Iron Man film yet, check them out here: Part 1 - Michael's Take - A Comic Book Fan's POV! Part 2 - Tina's Take - A Woman's POV!
For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and come back again! Michael |
Tina standing in front of our Iron Man Comic Books Wall in her Iron Man Film T-shirt she received from the Iron Man Program at the SDCC 2007! The front of the t-shirt has the repulsor ray shown and it GLOWS in the dark, which was cool inside the dark theater!
Above is just one of the Iron Man Film Posters that have been released prior to the Opening Day! To view our currently listed Iron Man and other Marvel Superheroes Comics, magazines and other pop culture items, just click on the photos above!

Stickers AND Packaging!
" Thor " And Stickers Are Just A Few That Were Produced!
As we blogged about last week... Marvel Entertainment has updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises! However, the launch of the 'Thor' Film won't be until in the summer of 2010 because Marvel Comics believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property! So Marvel Entertainment plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, 'Iron Man 2', on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of 'Thor' on June 4, 2010. BIG NOTE: So, you have plenty of time to buy items about the Mighty Thor before the supply of his items dry up from purchases by speculators! You might want to look at HTF (Hard To Find) items like the sticker package at the top right, as the stickers were usually stuck on something(!) and the package thrown away! Who'd thunk that the package would be worth something someday, LOL! And I wouldn't recommend chewing the gum either! For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Thanks for joining us today at this pop culture - comic books - comics blog post and come back again! Michael |

Fox TV Show Season 7 The Top 3 Show! 05-13-08 Our Take Song Theme For The Night Was: "Choice Night - 1st Song Choice By the Judges, 2nd Song Choice By the Contestants, 3rd Song Choice by the Producers"! Last Night it was the 'Top 3' who performed! Here are our AVERAGED 'scores' of ALL 3 songs performed by each 'idol', (based on 1-10, 10 being highest), with the 4th column showing the difference between Michael's score and Tina's score. The 'contestants' are listed in order of performance appearance during the night, NOT by numerical score: The 'Top 3 - The American Idol The Song Choices Were: David Archuleta -- "And So it Goes" by Billy Joel. "With You" by Chris Brown. "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg. David Cook -- "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack. "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot. "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith. Syesha Mercado -- "If I Ain't Got You" By Alicia Keys. "Hit Me Up" by Gia Farrell (from "Happy Feet"). "Fever" -- originally by Peggy Lee.
General Show Notes: Once again the 'Top 3' Show, as in previous years, showed the contestants in their home towns and being notified as to what song their judge had picked for them. It seemed that those segments were shorter than previous years... Once again each song was limited to the amount of time actually singing the song.. Tina's comments: on David Archuleta - As first song is sung..."Now I know why I don't like his style. David A has to blast everything he sings". on Sysesha - No comments were made on her. She sang a solid 8.5 on each song in Tina's opinion! on David Cook - First time this Season 7 that Tina awarded a '10.0" to any contestant. This was on his first song. on Randy - WTH was that! (Her reaction when Randy said Syesha, 'you're standing there at #3' before the 3 songs were even over!) Also... "He's drinking Paula's soda again tonight!" (Her reaction to his comments on David C's last song.) on the Producers - Their song choice for David A was so horrible. Such a sappy song for David A to sing! Then again, David A's father has been getting 'difficult' and was banned from being backstage. Michael's comments: on David A - Just tired of him... except he did better on the 3rd song. on Syesha - IMHO she gave David C a run for the money tonight! Only 0.08 difference in average score! However the favoritism from the judges and the producers choices probably skewed the voting process afterwards... She just isn't what 'they' are looking for in an 'American Idol'. She has really come out the last few weeks and given it her best shot!! on David C - Really Hit It Out Of the Ballpark on the first song! But with the next two songs allowed the other two contestants a chance to catch up with him! His song choice was poor IMHO... on Paula - Really subdued tonight for Paula.... on Randy - You can tell he wants a 'Battle of the Davids' IMHO! on Simon - Looked like doesn't want the actress/singer to go further. on the Producers - Once again this "Producers' choice" for each of the contestants to sing seems to skew the performances, thus possibly / probably affecting the voting process? The contestants had to work very hard on those poor choices made for them.... Our Take: What we normally do this far into the process is to vote for our top performer for the night per the average score we gave them. HOWEVER, once again it appears that the process is skewed to have a "Battle of The Davids", which Tina and I would have possibly been okay with weeks ago.... but Syesha's performances were so much better than David A's last night and the week before, IOHOs. So we both voted for David C and Syesha multiple times.... Will it affect the outcome? Probably not... but it did make us both feel better!! LOL! So who's going home?? Michael and Tina both feel that David A should go, based on Syeshas stepping up to the plate and doing better... but it will probably be Syesha tonight due to the 'popularity contest' this Season 7 has ended up being for the past several weeks! In conclusion, both Michael and Tina believe that the judges and the producers are being partial to David A and David C because 'they' want to see a 'Battle of the Davids', which would help the ratings for the Finale as the season's ratings are supposedly down from last year... Could it be the Season 7's ratings are down because the American public is seeing it the way we are this Season.... that it is toooo much of a 'popularity' contest this year??? Due to space limitations on the eBay Blog format that we first post in, we only have so much room to blog here... For those that missed our previous blog posts on this TV Show.... Please see the following link for our previous blog post. We have been blogging about Season 7 since the first week when the auditions were shown:

Golden Records With And Without Comics!
Back on April 28th we received the following email question: Dear make_it_so_marketing, Well, my answer to this eBayer was: Thanks for emailing us! I have seen both the album/record and the comic book selling individually by themselves at conventions. There are collectors that were not able to get the album when they purchased the comic book and vice versa. So you have a probable market in reaching those collectors. Especially since the advent of CGC and PGX where they encapsulate the comics but don't do so with the records. The encapsulated comics go for about $250 in 9.4 NM grade. Whereas if you are selling the record/cover alone, you probably should put a reserve on the auction to get what you need out of it! Now for the update on this record and album cover: It sold for $26.00 + shipping. It was Item number: 300222126772 and had 13 bids on it! Congrats to the emailer / seller! For those of you new to us, we have an ongoing pop culture - comics convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Michael |
The above are four of the Golden Records and reprints of the 'Key Issues' of the Marvel Comics the record is about. Shown are Fantastic Four #1, Avengers #4, Amazing Spider-Man #1, and Journey Into Mystery with Thor #83!
