GI JOE

Dog Tag - Promotional Item Now Listed!

Recently I posted that July 26th thru July 29th 2008 will be the time of the next JoeCon.

The JoeCon2008 will be held at the Frisco Embassy Suites in Dallas, Texas.

Today I was going through our many boxes of items to grade and list in the eBay Store when I came across the promotional item pictured to the top right of this blog post.

Back at the SDCC 1995 San Diego Comic Con International, Dark Horse Comics distributed a few G.I. Joe Dog Tags in commemoration of their special GI Joe publication that was being printed.

I was one of a very few that obtained one of these, and have decided to list it for sale here: GI JOE DOG TAG!

I don't see any others listed on eBay or any photo of one listed via Google at this time. Must be a HTF (Hard To Find) item now?!

For those new to this blog, we also have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and check out our blog again real soon!

Ready For This Upcoming Film ?

Ready For This "Upcoming" Film?

" Thor "

If Not...

Then Check Out The 'Essential Thor' Book!

As we blogged about earlier this week... Marvel Entertainment has updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises!

However, the launch of the 'Thor' Film won't be until in the summer of 2010 because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property!

So Marvel Entertainment plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, 'Iron Man 2', on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of 'Thor' on June 4, 2010.

So, you have plenty of time to read about the history of the Mighty Thor!

The comic book feature Thor started as a strip in the Marvel Comic Book titled 'Journey Into Mystery' in issue #83 of that title.

However as Thor became the only feature in the comic book, it soon took over the title as well!

Today, you as a reader, not collector, have the opportunity to read the early stories in a black and white format. This inexpensive format is printed in what is called 'The Essential Thor' book, as shown at the top right.

If you don't want to buy collector copies or 'reader copies' of the actual comics, then the 'Essential' format could be the way to inexpensively read these early stories and get a 'feel' as to how Thor was a founding member of the 'Marvel Universe'!

We don't have copies of that book for sale here at Make It So Marketing, as well sell the actual comic books, but here is the link to find copies of the 'Essential Thor' for you to buy:  Thor Essential Book!

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for joining us today at this pop culture - comic books - comics blog post!

The 4400 TV Show - 4th Season DVD !

'The 4400' TV Show - 4th Season DVD!

As I have blogged about before, we first caught this show at the July 2007 San Diego Comic Con International, (SDCC), as we kept running into programs / panels that producer Ira Steven Behr was sitting on.

Suffice to say that after seeing and hearing him so many times we decided to give this show a try...

We rented the DVDs to catch up on the previous seasons and found that we enjoyed them.

So we watched the then current 4th season and awaited the following 5th Season.

However we soon blogged about 'The 4400' TV Show being cancelled for the next season...

Then it was on 03-10-08 that we blogged about the show again because for weeks we had seen our archived 4400 blog posts being viewed repeatedly and wondered if there was a change at USA about the show's status...

Well... in that previous weekend's USA Today Newspaper there was a question asked in Robert Bianco's column 'News And Views'. It was asked if the write-in campaign to save 'The 4400' was working... Answer was ... "There's always a chance. Not a good one, but if you send a letter, you're only wagering 41 cents."

For those that haven't see those efforts, look at SaveThe4400.com, and also check out the YouTube Video to the middle section of the right column of this blog post!

It did seem strange to us when the Season Finale of Season 4 ended.  Everything was wrapping up quickly. It almost seemed like a series finale, but nothing was announced as to that being the case.

There was a lot of closure to sub plots which made seeing the Finale a must watch episode for those that had been following the series!

Unfortunately the TV Guide then reported that this show was definitely cancelled.

That was a shame in my opinion, as 'The 4400' was a very good sci-fi show....

For those of you that have not seen the show, you can now give it a try via all 4 Seasons on the DVD collections, which IMHO is the best way to view this series! Just click this 'The 4400' link to see several copies of it listed for sale. We do not sell DVDs of this show, but feel it is worth recommending to our blog readers!

Our thanks to Ira Behr for turning us on to this series. And our thanks to the cast and crew for making this a fun series to watch! This is the main reason that Tina goes to Pop Culture / Comic Book Conventions, so she can hear and see about new shows or films!

General Show Notes:
Ryan opened with a comment that Three Of The Final Four have been #1 in votes this season.... without mentioning who hadn't made that...

Just two more show weeks to go... which is good because Michael is getting a little perturbed about the 'Popularity Contest' that this Season has turned into...
Tina's comments:
on David Cook - Hates the first song, but David gave it a better vocal than it ever deserved. Bad choice on his second song...

on Sysesha - She's Got The Wiggle!
on Jason - Totally wrong song for his voting bloc (Shot the Sheriff)

on David A - Horrible arrangement on first song choice

on Randy - He's drinking Paula's soda tonight!  (her reaction to his comments)
Michael's comments:
on David C - What Happened Tonight??????
on Syesha - (Before she performed) She Looks HOT Tonight. (As Proud Mary was performed)  WHOA Momma!!
on Jason - Agree with Simon "Totally Atrocious!".  BTW, did he try to throw this competition tonight with his song choices??? Forgot the words!
on David A - Ruined one of my Favorite ELVIS Songs, and ELVIS is MY Personal Idol!
on Paula - She's gotta go!! (Re: her comments to Jason, and YTD comments to just about everyone!)
on Randy - A little too 'overboard' on David A for me!

on Simon - Agreed 75% with him on Round One and his comment on Round Two to Jason ' Jason pack your suitcase!'... If ONLY..

Our Take:
What we normally do this far into the process is to vote for each of our top performers for the night per the score we gave them.

HOWEVER, Due to the way that Ryan showcased the numbers and made it more for 'popularity' voting, AND the way some of the judges showed overboard partiality tonight IOHOs, Michael and Tina both voted for Syesha for the best performance of the night AND for David Cook for their 'popularity vote' although David C didn't do well in performances. Actually several votes were called in for both contestants as we were sick of the 'popularity contest' and afraid that not enough rocker fans would vote for David C to keep him in!

So who's going home??  Michael and Tina both feel that Jason's gotta go and should go... but it could be David C or Syesha tonight due to the 'popularity contest' this Season has ended up being!

In conclusion, both Michael and Tina believe that the judges are partial to David A because he'll sell more records. However Tina does say the judges are entitled to their opinion, and for the producers it would be 'best' for a 'pop singer' to win the 'pop' American Idol Show Title...

Due to space limitations on the eBay Blog format that we first post in, we only have so much room to blog here...

Whom To Portray Thor In His Upcoming Film?

Whom To Portray

" Thor "

In His Upcoming Film?

Why Not Josh Holloway?!

Marvel Entertainment has updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises!

So as blogged about yesterday... the launch of the 'Thor' Film won't be until in the summer of 2010 because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property!

So Marvel Entertainment plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, 'Iron Man 2', on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of 'Thor' on June 4, 2010.

So, I still haven't heard who is to play Thor in the film.

Scanning through blog posts and other sources, I saw that someone else had thought of Josh Holloway to be a good choice to play Thor.

I know that Tina would agree, as she like his acting on the TV Show 'Lost', and when you look at him, facially he does resemble the Thor personification that Marvel has used in the earlier years!

So why not Josh Holloway as Thor?

I do realize that his years on 'Lost' have been seen by quite a few viewers, so the thought of being seen by millions of movie goers wouldn't seem so exciting to him, but to play a Superhero... Well that would be something that not many have done so far!

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for reading this popular culture - comics - comic books blog post and come back again!
