Why The eBay Millionaire? As previously blogged here, Tina and I have posted some 'reviews' in the eBay Reviews and Guides Section off and on for several months. So this week I've been reading or re-reading books on blogging and eBay itself, as both Tina and I expand the scope of our operations on this, my 10th Anniversary on the Web! The book 'The eBay Millionaire' was of course one that I wanted to check out again... Here is my Review that was just posted in the eBay Reviews Section: Why The eBay Millionaire? Good question for those that see the cover and wonder what deep dark secret is inside the book. Or if enlightenment will strike you once you have read it this book cover from cover! Well, there appears to be no one Secret to become a Titanium PowerSeller (TPS)! Indeed, where one TPS tells you that starting auctions at 99 cents is the way they go and why, another TPS says they would never start an auction at 99 cents, because that is where their listing would probably end up at! That's because each of the sample TPS talked about in this book are or were basically at one time an uniuque seller! What worked for eac of these TPS worked for them after trying a few different business models and finding the right one for them. There is no one secret, or even multiple secrets as to why each of the sample eBayers in this book became a TPS. But behind it all was a lot of hard work as several started from either their garage, basement, or home office! I find it interesting that several are no longer TPS on eBay today. There are several mentions of changes that had occured while on their way to TPS status, and that most were working on their own web site in addition to their eBay Store. With the ongoing eBay changes so far this year in 2008, it would be wise to follow their example in this. This book is copyrighted 2005, and is starting to show its' age, but the individual stories by each of the TPS is timeless. Definitely a book to check out at your libary at least, if not picking up a discounted on eBay itself! We have an ongoing Comic Con and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the cover at the top right to see our current listings! Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again! Michael |

Hasbro Reacquires Their Cartoons........ Hasbro, who are this nation's #2 toymaker, announced yesterday that they have reacquired the worldwide distribution rights to over 1,000 hours of animated programming! Hasbro stated that under the terms of its' new agreement with Sunbow Productions, that they have regained 'ownership' of one thousand hours of cartoons.
Those cartoons feature G.I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony and the Littlest Pet Shop which are still well known, although the properties are a a few decades old.
With extrapolation of what's going on in the movie industry, you can see that Hasbro is figuring that with the tremendous success of the live action Transformers movie, that cartoon characters are 'Hot' and they should have more of a financial reward.
Similar to Marvel Comics' situation, where they basically gave away the rights just to have a successfull film, and then a track record, (X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic Four), and now they are producing their own films, (Iron Man and Hulk), to reap the financial rewards instead of just a 'rights' payment.
With a second Transformers Film in the pipeline, and a G.I. Joe live action film that is in production, Hasbro is showing that it clearly wants full control over its cartoon properties in order to reap the financial rewards.
The only thing is, are they coming too late to the market?
With films like 'Hancock' and other 'superhero' fare, will one or some of these companies get hurt when the whole genre is oversaturated?
Only time will tell! We have an ongoing Comic Con and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! So How's The Film Faring... Against DC Comics' Comic Book Movies? Well... we've been telling our Blog Readers that the Iron Man Film was going to be BIG... AND Worth Waiting For, AND Watching! So no surprise to us that the Iron Man Film has now reached $178 Million Dollars since its sneak premiere late on Thursday Night on May 1st! So where does that total place the movie at now? This blog post will just compare this new Marvel Comics film versus their major competitor in Comics... that of DC Comics films released so far: So Iron Man's start is not bad for a supposed 'second tier' comic book hero from Marvel Comics against the D(istinguished) C(ompetition)'s Films! Actually according to the latest stats, Iron Man was the 10th biggest opening of all time and the fourth biggest for a superhero movie! Among nonsequels, it came in behind only the first 'Spider-Man 1', which premiered with $114.8 million! I had promised our blog readers earlier that I would publish a photo of Tina wearing her Iron Man t-shirt that was distributed at the Special Iron Man Program at the SDCC 2007 (San Diego Comic Con International)! I ran that photo earlier, actually 2 photos, showing the front and back of the t-shirt. So I'm only re-running the photo with the front of the shirt at the top right... and a pic of one of the Iron Man Film Posters below that for those of you that haven't seen that yet! If you haven't seen our reviews of the Iron Man film yet, check them out here: Part 1 - Michael's Take - A Comic Book Fan's POV! Part 2 - Tina's Take - A Woman's POV!
For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Come back and see us again! Michael |
Tina standing in front of our Iron Man Comic Books Wall in her Iron Man Film T-shirt she received from the Iron Man Program at the SDCC 2007! The front of the t-shirt has the repulsor ray shown and it GLOWS in the dark, which was cool inside the dark theater!
Above is just one of the Iron Man Film Posters that have been released prior to the Opening Day! To view our currently listed Iron Man and other Marvel Superheroes Comics, magazines and other pop culture items, just click on the photos above!

Blogging For Dummies... And What To Do With It!
As previously blogged here, Tina and I have posted some 'reviews' in the eBay Reviews and Guides Section off and on for several months. So this week I've been reading books on the history of blogging and what additional purposes it can be used for as both Tina and I expand the scope of our operations on this, my 10th Anniversary on the Web! The book 'Blogging For Dummies' was of course one that I wanted to check out. Here is my Review that was just posted in the eBay Reviews Section: A Good Beginning Reference But.... ...unfortunately even with a 2006 publishing date, it is out-of-date This is a good beginning for a wannabe blogger to start with, as with most 'For Dummies' books, it is well researched and written for a beginner level. Saying that, when using several of the resources mentioned in the book, the resource websites are either on hiatus or re-organization, no longer in existence, or have been merged/bought out by another organization. That is not the fault of this book. However to pay $21.99 MSRP for a book You should check out your local library before buying this book We have an ongoing Comic Con and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale! Just click on the cover at the top right to see our current listings! Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again! Michael |
