TODAY'S FEATURE - Blog #3479:

(Vinnie)  This is my take on the trade paperback book, "Yets!" issue #2.

To quote from the creator's site, "YETS! is a story about a Chihuahua (named Spec) and an adventuring Guinea Pig (named Perry) who go out to meet Wild Dragons!..." That is the best way to sum it all up.

My dad met the creator at the San Diego Comic Con International 2011, and picked up the book. I found it in the box of stuff to read and possibly review, and I thought it looked cute and cartoony.

It's about Spec and Perry going on adventures with these creatures that have no name as of yet, and are therefore called... Yets! They go on many adventures that have the purpose of adventuring and to return a little critter home. They do want to find dragons, but they mainly just want to help him out.

It does follow some kind of storyline, but it seems fairly like what a "sandbox" game would be, free roaming, do whatever, and no storyline. Then again, this is the second volume, and the whole plot may have been revolved around the first volume, which I have, in fact, not read.

The whole group is just a bunch of cute little critters. Thy couldn't possibly get into that much mischief... But they do. Wizards have found them, but luckily they get away. They then have trouble with dark rainclouds, but they call on for the cloud shepherd and he rescues them, as a favor for him getting rescued by Perry.

The art is very simplistic and cartoony, and I love it. Everything is just beautifully done, I just wish it could have been in color. If it had been, then I would just adore it all the more.

The story can just be summarized in one short paragraph, and in fact, it is! It's on the inside cover of the actual book.

"The Story As Of Yet...
The peaceful era on the Tree World of Chlem shatters when a creature falls inside the tree onto the ground. A Guinea Pig, Perry, and a Chihuahua, Spec, return the lost creature and discover a forgotten world of magical critters who long for companionship. These critters offer to build a ship for Perry to explore the TreeWorld he brings the critters' children. So now Perry, Spec, and Perry's mate, Peg are on their journey of discovery with the dragon-like critters who have no name ... As of Yet!"

I would recommend this for anyone of all ages. It's a great book with no violence or inappropriate language. It is also entertaining for kids my age, and probably older as well. I do not think it's very limited on who'd enjoy this great tale.

Overall, I did enjoy this trade paperback book, I just wish that it was in color! I give the second volume of "Yets!" a Very Fine Plus (VF+), an 8.5 out of
a 10.0 grade scale. If it was in color, it would definitely be a Near Mint, 9.4.

You can look to see if you can purchase this TPB at you Local Comic Book Shop, or you can buy it online it or others in the series at Mike's ArtistMB.com web site!
